THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

HOME VIDEO AVAILABILITY

Lon Chaney gives his most most famous performance in this first version of the oft-filmed tale. Universal’s lavish production boasted the opulent interior of the Paris Opera, and the shadowy world of the cellars beneath prefigure the gothic atmosphere of the horror films they would become famous for. This elaborately restored print features the original tints, Technicolor, and a recreation of the Handschiegel colour for the scene on the roof of the opera.
