AN UNSEEN ENEMY
This suspenseful short, a remake of Griffith’s earlier The Lonely Villa, marked the screen debuts of both Lillian and Dorothy Gish. Griffith displays his increasing mastery of the medium, fashioning increasing numbers of shots, skillful acting and mutliple lines of action into a complex pattern. Although the emphasis is on making a thriller, he still makes time to insert a moment of lyrical romance.
