Keaton’s most famous comedy, and an enduring classic of American silent cinema. A true incident from the Civil War is the foundation for this extended railroad chase, as engineer Buster pursues the northern spies who have stolen both his locomotive and his sweetheart. Produced with great attention to detail, the superb camerawork frequently evokes the work of Matthew Brady, and is seen here to great effect in prints made from the original negative.
